A bird gets the shock of it's life as a 100 foot whale surfaces to lung for krill swimming near the surface.

Luckily for the pelican it managed to take off in time and escape from the giant blue whale.

The aerial photos were taken by airline pilot Roxanne Parker, 25, in the vicinity of Channel Islands National Park, California, Pacific Ocean.
