A brave little bird scares away a goliath heron which is almost four times its size after it got too close to it's nest.

The lapwing had laid it's eggs at the side of a river bank and so had to fiercely defend the intruder off. The images were captured by wildlife photographer Jeffrey Wu at the Chobe River near Kasene in Botswana.

He said: 'The heron was just a few steps too close to the eggs, so the brave lapwing started to attack'
