This really is a red sky at night - as clouds in the sky reflect an erupting volcano. The glow is created by a pool of lava lying dangerously in the volcano's crater and reflecting in the sky above.

And as it bounces back down onto the waters of a lagoon, pictured in the foreground, the red glow stretches to become a rippled red pillar. These incredible images were taken this week by 59-year-old Orn Oskarsson by standing by a lagoon in Jokulsarlon in south east Iceland.
