Two strange creatures with mesmerising green and blue eyes look like aliens as they peer through a hole in a leaf.

The unusual-looking insects are actually damselflies, clinging to the leaf as they look through the hole in the middle of it.

The male and female insects appear to hold hands as they peer through the gap in the poplar leaf, which has been chewed away by a caterpillar.
