These gleaming tusks emerging from the sea belong to the first walrus of thousands to reach a remote beach.

Within hours a huge mass of walruses are relaxing on the same rocks, piled on top of each other in a sprawl of flailing flippers and pointy tusks.

The cinnamon-brown sea mammals come to unwind on this part of the coastline in Chukotka, Russia, during autumn every year.
