SN_HERON_CATCH_4.jpg
This helpless fish stood no chance when it unwittingly swum past this wily hunter and was snapped up in seconds. The Great blue heron perched motionless on a log while it surveyed the water surrounding it. And sure enough the bird's patience paid off as the unsuspecting fish drifted past and the heron duly pounced.
The last moments of the fish was captured on camera by Christopher Schlaf at a pond near his hometown of Romeo, Michigan, US. SEE OUR COPY FOR DETAILS.
Pictured: The fish having been speared by the heron and tossed into the air gets swallowed, without it even touching the sides of the herons beak.
