A mother bear hurries her young cubs up a tree to protect them from a large male bear approaching them.
The mother saw an adult male approaching her and her four cubs, aged between five and six months old, as they wandered through the forest.
Male brown bears can kill cubs that are not their own. Sensing the imminent danger, the mother bear got her cubs to climb into the safety of the trees.
She then clung to the bottom of the tree to stop the male from climbing the tree and reaching her litter.
Erik Mandre witnessed the dramatic escape as the young bears fled for their lives. SEE OUR COPY FOR MORE DETAILS.
