Thousands of bamboos more than 20m tall create an impressive forest of green.
The thick bamboo, which boast a diameter of 20cm, forms part of a serene forest that looks like it belongs in a children's fairytale.
The bamboo groves are next to the Kodaiji temple, a temple of the Rinzai school of Zen Buddhism and the Houkouji temple, which dates back to the 16th century.
The biggest and one of the most famous forests is the Arashiyama bamboo grove.
All three can be found in Kyoto, Japan, once the country's capital and home to around 1.4 million people.
