SN_IRON_ANGEL_007.jpg
An artistic dad spent 60 hours making a 7ft replica of Anthony Gormley's "Angel of the North" - and has given it pride of place in his front garden. Dave Read, 45, created the 300kg steel sculpture using 300 pounds of materials in Totton, near Southampton, Hants. He has now called it the "Angel of the South", because of its location on the south coast. The rusted figure is significantly cheaper than the 100,000 pounds original. It mimics the 66ft 'Angel of the North' contemporary sculpture which has stood guard over the A1 in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, since 1998.<br />
