Jutes market in Bangladesh by Azim Khan Ronnie

Market traders look like they are wearing giant golden wigs as they carry tough fibres weighing as much as a man on their shoulders.  The traders carried jute, which is used to make cloth as well as rope for carpets, rugs, and curtains, to Bangladesh's biggest market for the material.<br />

Before loading the huge bundles onto their shoulders, the workers rowed them from farms across the country in wooden boats.  Photographer Azim Khan Ronnie said this market, which happens once every week in Manikganj, Bangladesh, is hugely popular.  SEE OUR COPY FOR DETAILS.<br />
