WEATHER INPUT - Pannage starts in the New Forest this week.

The pannage season which started Monday takes place in early autumn and lasts for 60 days. It is where domesticated pigs are released in to the forest, so that they can eat fallen acorns, beechmast, chestnuts and the like, as these posinous to the New Forest Ponies and cattle.
