A beautifully coloured American wood duck has been spotted almost 10,000 miles away from its native home in North America, swimming in a pond in the city of Howrah, in West Bengal, India.
The pictures were taken by photographer Saurabh Sirohiya in the neighbourhood of Bally in India.
The 34 year old said “India has many native ducks, such as Lesser Whistling Duck, Ruddy Shelduck, Northern Shoveler. However the American wood duck is certainly not one of them!”

“It is such a beautiful colour, however how it got here is not yet known. Someone may have brought it over as a pet, we don’t know.”
