A vibrant stinging nettle caterpillar with sharp and poisonous spikes can be seen eating its way through a leaf in Gopeng, Perak, Malaysia. The moment was captured by Marcus Kam, 45, a Sales Manager of a corrugated carton box manufacturer in Malaysia.

Marcus said, 'Whilst appearing to look very soft at first the sharp spikes are hard and poisonous. The beautiful creatures can be very deceiving.'

'Caterpillars may be cute and entertaining to watch, but they also have the ability to inflict a potentially dangerous sting. 'The stinging nettle caterpillar, with colours that mimic the ones a clown, are no exception.'
