Conservatives attending the party’s Spring Forum in Oxford today were joined by a surprise double act - a unicorn led by a Theresa May-lookalike.

The unicorn has been adopted as a symbol on social media by campaigners who believe the prime minister’s Brexit deal is chasing a compromise that doesn’t exist.

And campaign group Right to Vote - which is seeking a timeout in the Brexit process to allow the country to have a final say - brought the message to the annual one-day event, which took place at the DoubleTree By Hilton Oxford Belfry hotel.

The panto-style unicorn arrived at the conference in a horse box, and was led down into the hotel car park by the PM lookalike, complete with trademark leopard print shoes.
