A cheeky bird catches a quick ride on the back of a sea turtle around 20 miles offshore.

The bird - a Common Tern - stops for a quick pit stop as it catches its breath over the Pacific Ocean before flying off.

In the photos, the turtle's shell could be mistaken for a tiny island, but as you get closer the aquatic reptile becomes visible.
