A bird chases a flying fish that is 'spooked' out of the water by a passing ship. The flying fish manages to get away from the predator - a brown booby which was following the vessel and poised to pounce on its prey.

Professional photographer Richard Thomas Lovelock took these pictures on Cunard Cruise ship the Queen Elizabeth sailing from Singapore to Tokyo. Discussing the pictures, he said: "A flying fish has been spooked under the water by the approaching ship.
