A comical egret turns its head completely upside-down to look between his own legs.

The great egret landed on a small pier and started to groom its white feathers before bending his neck and ducking his head to peer behind himself.

The 3ft-tall bird was spotted by retired IT manager Kevin Giannini, while visiting Fort Fisher, North Carolina, US.
