A slow worm extending its head from a pool of water in Scotland looks like a miniature Loch Ness Monster. The reptile was spotted by keen photographer John Cobham near Loch Sunart while on holiday in Glenborrodale, in the West Highlands.

Slow worms can live for over 15 years, and rely on warmth to generate mobility - meaning this one stayed fairly static in the cold water.
