Surf's up... Penguins coming back from a day's hunt appear to be surfing the breaking waves. The king penguins, which had been searching the sea at depths of up to 500 metres for fish to feed their chicks, returned to shore riding the whitewater on their bellies.

Some 500,000 individuals and more than 100,000 breeding pairs can be found on a beach in Salisbury Plain on South Georgia Island in the South Atlantic Ocean. Photography instructor Michael Nolan said it was exhilarating...
