Union flag torn by strong winds by Roger Clark (3 images)

Extreme 35 knot winds have battered this Union Jack flag, nearly destroying it entirely. The flag was spotted on Saturday fluttering in a gale by keen-eyed photographer, Roger Clark, at Lepe Beach in Hampshire.

Roger said: "I have been in 50 knot winds in the Southern Oceane, but never experienced winds like this in the UK before. The wind was so strong that this flag looked static to me. It reminded me of the US flag on the moon that stayed still without any wind to move it...
