SN_MUDDY_HYENA_3.jpg
This spotted hyena turned from a snarling predator into a playful puppy - all thanks to a mud bath. The fearsome-looking animal was walking along the dirt road when it spotted the pool of muddy water and decided to dive straight in.

The hyena, who dived in to keep cool, played in the pool for 20 minutes, splashing the mud up to 1 metre high and biting at the water. Safari lodge manager and head ranger Gavin Tonkinson was tracking cheetahs in the Madikwe Game Reserve, in South Africa, when he noticed the hyena. SEE OUR COPY FOR DETAILS.
