Located high in the mountains, the terraced paddy fields create a shimmering mosaic of blue and dusty pink as the water reflects the light of the setting sun.
This area in Yuanyang County, Yunnan, China, has been cultivated by the local Hani people for at least the past 1300 years and is now a UNESCO world heritage site.

Covering an area of more than 28,000 acres, the rice terraces pay testimony to the creativity and ingenuity of the Hani people who managed to grow rice on such difficult terrain.
