An animal sanctuary is beating the Big Freeze by knitting winter jumpers - for their chickens. In honour of the revealing one piece called the Man-kini, the new winter warmers have been dubbed the chi-kini.
A member of staff at the charity came up with the design after one of the centre's rescued chickens arrived completely featherless. The Raystede Centre for Animal Welfare rescue former egg-laying hens, which would otherwise be sent to slaughter, twice a year.
Now staff at the centre, in Lewes, East Sussex, are asking people to knit more chi-kinis for their feathered residents. SEE OUR COPY FOR DETAILS.
