A lioness bites down on an elephant calf's neck as it tries to grab it - but is chased off by its brave mother. These pictures were captured by wildlife photographer Nick Dales, who was having his lunch on a boat on the Chobe River, in Namibia, southern Africa, when he spotted the brawl.
The 54 year old from London said: "The area has the highest population of elephants in the world. Every week I went out on boat trips and was almost always guaranteed to see them. SEE OUR COPY FOR DETAILS.
